Change of scenery

It was time for one. Jeremy was frustrated because he feels that he has no say in the child rearing and it came to a head the other night. It could become a long story I am rather too tired to tell at the time being, but I will just say that it is difficult living with parents. One feels the kids aren't disciplined enough, the other the opposite and whoa, it gets to be a bit much at times. So, we came to stay with my mother in law for a few nights to regroup, sort of. We have been busy at Jeremy's Aunt's, helping them pack and load the moving truck for their move to FLA. We have received a lot of nice stuff that they aren't taking with them and so generously gave to us. One is a table/chair set..spongebob, for Sebastian. If the patio furniture doesn't fit on the truck, she told me I could have it. Makenneh is getting a bookcase and she has been wanting one. Jeremy got some speakers, fishing equipment and a tool chest. He is in his glory. My body is revolting though against sleeping on the floor. Oh well, i suppose with enough motrin, I will make it through. LOL.

Summer seems to have finally arrived, leaving behind the cool and rainy days. We went 21 hours without power last Saturday. It was crazy. But also kinda nice. I couldn't tell you how many times I flicked on a light switch only to be reminded that we had no power when the room remained black. We made a bonfire and cooked hobo pies with pizza fillings. it was nice. But that same storm reaked hovac on the yard sale efforts. The tent was blown around, tables knocked over, clothes soaked. It was more work that the initial set up, trying to get it all back in order.

Well, it is late and I want some sleep, so I am going to finish my internet fix for the time being and hit the floor. Motrin don't fail me now!

He pecked me on the finger, so

Sebastian wanted to feed the chickens. He came back in with a peck on his finger, needing a bandaid. Daddy says, "Winner, winner, chicken dinner!" LOL. The chickens should start laying eggs next month. We ended up with 3 roosters...they are crowing now, but well, only one can actually crow right. The other two are ummm, half cocked?! haha. It's funny to listen to them try to crow.

I am posting a slideshow of pics from the weekend. The only thing I don't like about doing the slideshow is I can't fully explain each pic, just a quick caption. I forgot to mention in my last post about the crazy creature outside the patio door of the cabin. Dad was sitting in the rocker right next to the the patio door and when he got up, he glanced down and right there, next to the door was a darn skunk, digging away at the ground, blissfully ignorant to the cabin full of people. We were in awe seeing a skunk that close..but also nervous he would get scared and pee on the stuff we had outside. All we could do was sit and watch, very quietly. Then, someone opened and closed the patio door and off he scampered, only to return the next night. Crazy. We got a picture, but I am not sure if it will be on this slideshow bc I have to get to bed and I am just waiting for a few more pics to load and them I am calling it a night. i will post more tomorrow maybe. If i can get a moment on the computer.

Ok, slide is done, here it is, good night all!

Where's my hair?

in the shower drain apparently. I lose handfuls of hair when I shower. Typically, though, it stays tangled in my mass of curls until I towel dry my hair and then gently pull for it to come out in near clumps. Tonight though, it seemed to have fallen to the drain. Unbeknown to me. So, who found it? Why my dear husband of course, as he attempted a shower only to have the thing fill up with water. So, he braved it and swiped it out of there and threw it in the trash but told me I had to tie up the bag and discard it. LOL. I have to be honest, wet hair turns my stomach, especially if it is in the drain. I am very happy he dealt with it. But, now that I know it's hitting the drain, I will have to be sure to keep my eye out. Ewwww.

So, our glorious weekend, complete with rain and cold weather. Can't ask for much more, right? Our vacation started on Thursday. We left home with sun and decent temps. We arrive to find clouds, chilly air, and wind. Followed by rain every day. It was too cold for shorts and jackets were required. But that didn't stop the kids from puttin on their swim clothes and hitting hte water, as us adults sat around, bundled, teeth chattering. Despite the crappy weather, we had a great time. JEremy took the boat out and did some fishing. The kids played in the water, catching minnows, collecting shells and fishing. The water was right out the back patio door. It was divine. When I popped my head up in the morning, I could look right out at the water. We attempted to go into town and window shop, but ya know, the rain. Plus we wanted to take the kids to Lake Huron, because we were right there. So, we did that btwn scattered showers. Sunday was Dad's Birthday, so we started the day with a big breakfast, then packed up most of our stuff and headed to the ice cream shop for ice cream. I was kinda disappointed with the ice cream...maybe it was the darn cone. I decided on a waffle cone and truth be told, I really prefer the plain ol ice cream cones. So, that was a bummer, but I was still happy to have my soft serve ice cream. It was sprinkling when we entered the shop, it was pouring like no other when we left. And because it's in town, you must park and walk. So, we all ran in the rain to our cars. It was actually exciting. I hooped and hollared like a child as I splashed through the puddles. Jeremy was carrying Seb and I told him to put him down and let him run through the rain. Few things in life are that carefree and glorious. Of course, riding home in soaked clothes wasn't all that glorious. We had to finish packing in a down pour. Once we got out of Tawas, guess what? It was sunny and beautiful. For some time...then it was rainy. We hit spots of rain the entire way home. Makenneh stayed up at the cabin last night with my mom and sister. The lucky ducks didn't have to come home so they didnt. LOL. I will post pics probably tomorrow. Mom is supposed to be home some time tonight.

I had a test over 3 chapters this morning, plus a large project due. My printer isn't working, mom's is out of its expensive ink which we can't afford to buy right now and most ppl nearby don't have Office 07, so i ended up driving to my mother-in-law's at 11pm last night to get my assignment. I emailed it to her, she had to go over to the office (she lives and works at an apt complex) and then discovered they only had the 2003, so she downloaded the patch and printed it for me. I was so thankful. OF course, there is no such thing as just stopping by...we got to talking and well, I was there til a bit after midnight. Had to come home, type up my cheat sheet for the test and it was 2am before I was able to go to bed. When I got up this morning...I had to cut and paste the ads that she printed for me. I did all this to get to class and have the substitute teacher tell us to hold on to them until our teacher comes back (in a week). NIIIIICE. I lost sleep over this for nothing?! I ran what little gas I had out for this? Grrrr. OH well, it's done and out of my hair.

And just before we left for north, my cousin, Sarah, had her baby. HE was born July 16 at 6:44am. He weighed 7lbs 6oz, 19.5 in long. (same size as Liberty). They named him Jayden Michael. The birth went well for hte most part, aside from the induction starting at 9am the 15th and not ending until the next morning. She opted for the epidural but it started wearing off 2 hrs before she had him. I have yet to see him because we left that day for north and the hospital is about 35 mins south of here. I plan to see him tomorrow. I will get some pictures to post. I am sure he is a cutie!

WEll, I am going to finish rounds on here..it seems I never get to leisurely sit online anymore. Always homework or something to do. Be watching for pics soon!

Time to kill

Something I don't have. We planned to go up to Aunt Helen's cabin this weekend. My sister really wanted all of us to go do something and this is quite inexpensive. I have been looking forward to it, actually. I figured I would go in take my test today and planned on taking the book bag along to study for the test I have on Monday. Hah. It's as if my Prof knew I had fun plans for the weekend. He gave us a huge advertising assignment today that is due on Monday and requires a computer/printer (yeah, mine is toast until I can have a professional look at it which won't be til I get my $ from financial aid) and an internet connection. None of which I will have at the cabin. So, i was determined to sit down and get it done today. Which I did. Except that I am completely unable to print it. My mom's printer is out of ink so she kindly went to walmart to get ink for her printer. I wanted to avoid using that one bc it was designed for HD photo printing and the ink is astronomical. Well, Walmart didn't have the black...all out. Kmart dosen't even carry that brand. So, mom suggested I email it to myself (or use flash drive) and go next door. I mentioend that if she doesn't have Vista, it isn't going to open without a downloaded patch that I know nothing about. Mom said that Karen just bought her computer a month ago or so. Good, that means it should have vista. I go over to use her computer/printer only to discover that they haven't entered the product key code for Office and therefore I can't print. Then I figure I will call my sister, have her print it off for me...so I email it to her. ONly, she is still on OFfice 03. Chris was home so he helped her do what needed to be done and then, low and behold, printer out of ink. I am so frustrated. to the point of tears. To the point of smashing this thing and throwing it out in the road. Sis is going to run to town in the morning and get ink for her printer and print it off for me, take it up north with us so I can finish my homework there. OH joy...We are supposed to be leaving in the morning. I was just recently able to get most of the packing done. I feel like I am going to forget things.

On a positive note, my cousin Sarah went in this morning and was induced because she has high blood pressure. She was due July 29. They broke her water around 4pm and when I talked to my aunt around 7, she was more than 75% effaced and dialated to 3. IT will be a long night for them. I am hoping they don't have to use the magnesium on her because that is what gave Carrie so much trouble. Hopefully all goes smoothly.

I don't think I posted about this yet, but I took Makenneh in on Monday to get her cast off and then had to take her for a follow up xray. I had to take her back in Tues morning. He put her in a splint and wants her to stay in one for 3 weeks. She can take it off occasionally at first with gradual increases in time off. HE said it's healing but he wants to protect it to be sure that if she were to fall or something it doesn't cause a break. I agree...rather be safe than sorry. So, I take her Aug 3 for an Xray and then go into the doc office for him to have a look and we will decide from there if it's healed enough to be without the splint. It kinda stinks, but it's better than a cast, I guess.

Well, my dad got a call today that there was a meeting at work and they wanted him to call back after the meeting. He did and he should be going back to work soon. Hopefully that all works out well. He has been laid off so long it is going to be a huge adjustment for him and all of us really.

Well, I need to get to bed and now that Stacy shared slide.com, I will share some more pics. Good night and have a fun weekend!

All kinds of stuff

Here are some pictures, Finally!

Sebastian mowing on his corn 4th of July...too cute!
Makenneh, Sebastian and their cousin, Keira at a family cook out the day after
Liberty and her silky. My sister has had a "silky" since she was a kid. It was once our maternal gma's nighty. Carrie has used this silky while sucking or thumb then graduated to just using it to silk btwn her fingers..which she still does to this day. Now, she shares a piece with Libby and even gave Makenneh one. Both girls love theirs!
Makenneh and Kaden at the family Reunion this past Saturday
The birthday boy full of black frosting..that stuff is EVIL. But isn't he cute?!

My dad and Aunt Bev (can't you see the family resemblence?)

Grandma and the kiddos. Sebastian melted my heart when he all but knocked me over to race to grandma to give her a hug and kiss before she left. He is usually so shy and stand-offish. I was pleased.

I have to start my post with a gripe. My mom took my printer over to Matt and Sara's trying to get their wedding invites printed. My printer worked fabulously when it left the house...now it won't print for shit. Nothing seems to work right. I first noticed when I was working on my advertising assignment the other day....all the shading printed in a green hue. I had to print and then use the copy function to get it black/white. It said my black ink was low, I checked and the darn thing is half full. I decided to put a new cartridge in anyway to see if it would help, nope. Printer still tells me bk ink is low. Still prints funky colored. I just ran an alignment check and color quality check and a cleaning...yet still won't print right. I was trying to work on part of their wedding gift. I am making thank you cards with their pic set as background. They look nice but not if i can't get them to print correctly. My mom told me that Sara's brother in law tore my printer apart in an attempt to "see why it wasn't printing"....I don't know if he didn't get something back where it belongs or what. I do know that I NEED this printer to work properly for my class and for those thank yous.

We had a busy weekend. I have been manning the yard sale at my uncle's. I spent Saturday split between homework and yard sale. Sunday we had Kaden's 2nd bday party at the beach. I was impressed with the venue. I had heard that that particular beach was bad news, but it wasn't overly crowded and they have a splash pad for the kids to play on. My kids were fantastically behaved and didn't put up a fight when it was time to go.

I got an A on my first test. I am disappointed though. I missed 7 questions. HOw the hell I did that, I havent a clue other than to say that I sorta rushed through the thing. Most of the ones I got wrong were out of haste. Grrrr. AT least it is still an A even if only a weak A. I have another test Wednesday and another on Monday. I can't believe how fast he is pushing this class. We are like a week or so ahead of the syllabus.

Im uploading pics as I write and well, I am getting quite carried away. I haven't posted pics in so long and there are so many cute ones. Stacy, how do you do the slideshows on here? I have done one before (on diff site) but I can't remember how and I just don't have time to play around on here anymore like I used to. But, Stacy always uses slideshows and that is a better way, I think, to post several pics at one time. So, if I can get it figured out, i will do it that way next time.

Oh and the best news of the day...Makenneh got her cast off today. Then he sent me to the diagnostic center for an xray and I have to take her back to doc in the AM. I am afraid that whatever the radiologist found on the Xray wasn't what we hoped for. Otherwise, my doc wouldn't have wanted us back in first thing in the morning. Please pray that she doesn't need another cast and that the bone is healing as it should. I hate that they can't tell you anything until you talk to your doctor. The waiting game is insane.

Oh c'mon pictures and load. I am running out of things to talk about. Go figure. Ok they are done and so am I...enjoy! Have a great evening/day/week

Busy times

Yeah, I haven't been blogging like usual. But, summer is so busy on its own, then throw my summer classes in there and well, I am quite busy. I took my first test today and got an A. I have an Advertising project due Monday that I will be working on over the weekend. In the mix of all of this, my uncle went to court yesterday on his foreclosure and was given 30 days to move. The courts were only going to give him 10 days. So, I have been staying with him as much as possible to help sort through things, pack thing and prepare for a yard sale to sell off things he absolutely doesn't need. So, I have been quite busy. I am home right now because the kids wanted to play with their cousins who are staying at their gma's next door to us. (For those who don't remember, my dad's niece rents the duplex next door and her daughter and grandkids moved back in with her following a break up). So, the kids play pretty well together and today is Kollin's bday, so they wanted to bring him a present and have cake/ice cream with him. The problem is, they aren't going to want to leave when I am ready to. The good side to that is that, unlike last year when the kids were here, this summer, they are getting along great and play very well together. They entertain each other for hours.

So, I am going to get off here and work on my project. I have to design a newspaper ad to meet the specs given by the instructor.

Summer Semester

So, I started my summer semester monday. Monday was an easy day. two classes, in under 10 mins. The professor was at a conference in San Antonio and so he sent someone else in to take roll and that was the end of it. Wednesday was my first actual class. I go from 8am until 2pm. A long day. two classes, 3 hours each. No breaks, because the prof lets us out early (that time will be used for getting a bite to eat or something). The classes are interesting (Advertising and Principles of Marketing) but it is going to be a busy semester. I will have a project due pretty much every week, as well as a test over several chapters. Fun. But, the teacher seems great and hopefully I will do well.

We have been staying at my Uncle's this week because he got the court papers for his foreclosure/eviction. He is losing his house and we are helping him get things packed up, cleaned up, sorted, etc. We will be having a yard sale to sell the things he will no longer need. He has known he would lose the house, but when the papers actually came, it was pretty emotional. He got a 5th wheel and intends to stay in that for the time being. His job is touch and go and so he doesn't want to commit to rent or anything because he doesn't know how much work is in the future. He had always said he wanted to retire, buy a camper and live in it, move around, see things. Well, it isn't quite as he had planned, but still, part of his plan is in action. Timing just off a bit.

Nothing too exciting really to talk about. Makenneh still mouthy and bratty as ever. She stayed two nights with my cousin, Shannon, then a few nights with my sister. I enjoyed the break. She was very helpful at Carrie's. She helped with Liberty and Carrie was able to get things done. She enjoyed having her. She was willing to keep her longer, but they had stopped here and Makenneh got playing with the neighbor kids and didn't want to go.

Well, I am off here to finish up things and get back down to my uncle's. I also have to work out our holiday weekend plans. I know we are having a cookout, then my sister wants to go to the local park for the family fun day tomorrow and then we will go to Aunt Helen's house (the house is still in the family) and watch fireworks from the front lawn.
