You can use your own Catering

My sister was planning on having her wedding at the historical Crossroads Village (google it if you would like to check it out). Then, the reception was going to be in the village as well. Well, she called, got info on it and was so excited to do her western wedding in an old historical village (no cars allowed) and take a horse and buggy from the church to hall. Well, mom and Carrie go to the office to meet with the person in charge, see the hall, etc. Mom then goes back next day or whatever to put down a deposit. This is when she finds out that yes, you can use your own catering, BUT, they cannot use the kitchen facilities, must have a million dollar insurance policy, u must pay 7.00 or so an hour for one of their staff members to be there, plus 14.00 an hour for security and then htere are several other "additional" fees that i cant recall right now. It was rediculous. Oh and if you did take their catering, the plates started at like 20 a plate i think mom said. ARe you kidding me??? The kicker is this place is a state park and supported by OUR taxes!!!! Then they rape us if we should want to use their facility. I mean, as it is its free advertising...bc all the guests will see how wonderful the village is and maybe they will come back for a family day. LOL. So, they ticked my sister off and she has decided to find another location. well, it will cost an arm and leg and their first born to for a wedding there with all those extra fees. oh and dont ask about the liquor. YOu can only take their bartending service and its like 60-70.00 per bottle of liquor (it does include mixers and cups) and like 450.00 for a KEG OF BEER! YES, JUST A KEG OF BEER, NOT GASOLINE OR ANYTHING...LOL. Their alcohol for a very very basic bar would have been $900 or so. Mine was around 5, including shot glasss, stirrers, mixers, napkins for the bar, extra drinks for the wedding party, wine, our toasting champagne. And he delivered it, picked up unopened bottles and refunded $ for any unopened bottle. And he is a local business owner which i love to patronize.

So anyway, thats where the wedding plans are standing.

On a wonderfully glorious note: Ralph (carrie's fiance) got custody of his 14 yr old son this month! His mom messed up one too many times. This time she ended up in jail. Ralph drove down there, filed for temp. full custody, was granted to him and now Christopher is up here. When they got the call that a neighbor had Chris bc his mom's bf was beating on him, Carrie told Ralph, "just go get that little guy and bring him home," in tears. So he has been here a couple weeks and its going good. WE are all sooo excited to have Chris up here....
